Olathe North 21 – Wichita Heights 41
The Olathe North Eagles traveled to Wichita to take on the Wichita Heights Falcons on a perfect fall evening. The Eagles fell behind early due to four turnovers in the first half (3 lost fumbles, 1 botched punt). Each turnover gave the Falcons a short field and assisted them in turning the mistakes into quick scores. The Eagles never wavered and fought hard dominating the second half of play, however, the team was not able to overcome the deficit of the first quarter.
On the evening Deion Poindexter carried the ball 12 times for 132 yards and 1 touchdown. Malik Baynum-Brown had 2 explosive carries with 67 yards and 2 touch downs. The defense played stout in the second half with Ryan Huck leading the effort recording 13 tackles and 1 interception which he nearly returned to the end zone. Drew Greene had 11 tackles while Jonya Boyd followed up with 8. The team had 3 tackles for loss on the night. Jack Staes and Drew Rediger each had fumble recoveries. Next week the Eagles take on the Olathe South Falcons at ODAC.
